As you are all aware, India is set to impose a nationwide ban on single use plastic.

Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modiji, who is leading efforts to scrap such plastics by 2022, is set to launch the campaign with a ban on single use plastic from 2^nd October 2019, on the occasion of 150^th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

Similarly, in an Independence Day speech on 15 August, 2019 , Hon’ble Prime Minister had urged people, government agencies, NGOs and all stake holders to "take the first big step" on October 2 towards freeing India of single-use plastic.

Concerns are growing worldwide about plastic pollution. Hence, World Organisation of the Scout Movement (WOSM) also in partnership with UN Environment has also taken an initiative to create a new movement for action in the battle against plastic pollution and scouts all over the world have started taking action in this respect in creating awareness on plastic hazards.

To make the dream turn into reality of our Hon’ble Prime Minister, I take this privilege to appeal all our State Associations of the Bharat Scouts and Guides to take a lead and urge all our stake holders up to the grass root level to create awareness in their locality/areas towards ban on single use plastic to save environment towards healthy and happy life ultimately to achieve our mission in “creating a better India”

Imposition on “ban of single use plastic” at all level may be complied and action taken report initiated towards this great initiative of the Govt. of India may be submitted to the National Headquarters at [email protected] latest by 25^th September, 2019 for further submission to the Govt. of India. We also request the respective state association to send us brief report with photographs of the action taken-up time to time through various activities towards this noble cause for further publication in our monthly journal as well as in the social media site.
