Circular No.22 /2021- WAVE MAKER -ADVOCACY CHAMPIONS & PEER TRAINERS.
Dear Sir/Madam,
WAGGGS is launching the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) Plastic Tide Turners Challenge Badge’s advocacy component – Wave Makers where they are providing an opportunity to be an Advocacy Champion & a Peer Trainer. Plastic Tide Turner Challenge badge is part of the UN challenge Badge series of programmes. This phase 3 with the emphasis on advocacy is called ‘Wave Makers’.
The opportunity is open to Youth Adult Volunteers aged 15-30 with an interest in campaigning and youth leadership. This role involves taking a leadership role in the Wave Maker (Plastic tide turner phase II) campaign, speaking at national events, supporting the campaign in their region or council, and promoting the campaign.As Advocacy Championsa commitmnet of a year is expected to learn the skills of advocacy and further create their own team of advocacy champions.
We request State associations to depute 2 rovers and 2 rangers or unit leaders from both the sections, to participate in the above opportunity who have completed the Champion level in the Plastic tide turner challenge and has a passion to work on SDG’s.
Soon every state will have a pool of Advocacy Champions, either trained by the WAGGGS team or by peer trainers. These Advocacy champions will help increase the visibility of our organisation as a whole.
We request State Associtions to motivate efficient and deserving candidate for this opportunity.
